We made it to Las Vegas last night and will be heading out to a dry lake bed to camp for 1-2 nights with our good friends, Adam, Kayli and Connor. It should be a great day for it as the sky is clear and the sun is shining. Time to start wearing shorts and sunscreen, that's for sure!
For the past 2 days, we've been in the Mojave National Preserve, which is beautiful, especially since the entire desert is in bloom. Here are some pictures of the campsite, our hike through the Hole-in-the-Wall trail, and our drive down a dirt road (with a bull in the road). Check out Matt and Bailey climbing up the steep parts of the hiking trail! Bailey sat comfortably in Matt's backpack the whole way up. It was tough but both of them were good sports about it. NOTE: You can click on any of the pictures to make them bigger if seeing them is tough. I'm keeping them small to save on space.
For those of you that answered anything but "VOYAGER" for the plane that Mojave, CA is famous for were wrong. Spruce Goose, which was the most common answer is located in Oregon (and if you live in OR, shame on YOU!) :) The Voyager was a plane that was the first ever to fly non-stop, unfueled around the world. http://www.dickrutan.com/page2.html Pretty interesting. Took only 9 days.
See to the side and below for "WHERE'S BODILESS BOB"? (AKA B.B.)

Hey nerds!!
Wow!!! What a wonderful trip so far! I love looking at all the pictures! I can't believe you saw little pigs and didn't even play with them!!! I would've taken one as a pet :-) Mr. B would love it!!
Looks like fun! Miss you guys!
Monica
Be sure to look around the rocks before you sit on one, because the snakes and scorpions hide under the rocks! Listen for rattle sounds around the rocks!
You look so awesome in the desert!
I love you!
PS Mom
Monica - I totally wanted to take one of those little fuzzy pigs home with me... duh. Matt said, "No," so that was it. You know how he is. :)
Mom - Believe you me, we're always on the look out for dangers that linger in the rocks. No worries, haven't seen much but jack rabbits and desert turtles thus far.
We love & miss you both!
Nice pictures, you guys look just like Bear Grylls out in the wild. Keep up the adventures and you might have your own survival show soon enough. Make sure you keep to the rules only the person with the conch shell gets to speak, otherwise you civilization is thrown out the window.
Ben
ahhhhhhh, what we won't do for our dogs !!!
thanks for the great pics of the desert and of you!
Makes me long for another adventure. Keep the spirit alive!

Yes, having a conch shell would be a good thing. However, now sure how long it would last before being thrown out the car window. ;) hee, hee.
