Saskatchewan & Alberta

SASKATCHEWAN - Buffalo Pound Provincial Campground (Outside of Moose Jaw): The pictures above are from the campground where we stayed for one night sleeping in the back of the truck on a comfy mattress. And yes, it was quite comfy in there! The site was located in a grassy field overlooking Buffalo Pound Lake. The campsites out here are amazing and many (like this one) have nightly movies showing, huge swimming pools, mini golf, beaches and grocery stores. Very impressive and cheap at only $17 CAN per night.

The following pictures are from Banff.

ALBERTA - Banff Inn, Banff: We drove a long 10 hours on Saturday, August 9th to get to our destination of Banff. It wasn't until we made it to Calgary that we started to see the enormous mountains in the background. And then we were IN the mountains. Breathtaking beauty out here in this part of the country as we're now in the Canadian Rockies. Saturday the town absolutely packed with tourists and it rained a bit, but we headed out and had sushi for our anniversary dinner.
Today, Sunday, we walked around town and to the Canada Place, where we got to be filmed saying what we like about Canada and also some other goofy pictures with Matt in a car and me in a canoe. Then we hiked along the Bow River and up to the infamous Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel (no, we couldn't afford to stay there!) that resembles a castle in the woods, and through the woods along a back trail. Don't worry, we did stop to pick up Bear Spray and will have it handy the rest of the trip. It rained a bit this afternoon, but that made for some awesome picture-taking with the clouds in the mountains. Tonight is our last night in our fancy hotel and to save up on some Canadian "dough" we'll be camping the next couple of nights. We will be driving up North tomorrow and stopping at Lake Louise, Columbia Icefields (largest ice field South of the Arctic Circle), and Jasper. I'm sure we'll have some great pictures and stories after that trip. More to come in a week or so as not sure when we'll have Internet again.

You're right! Perhaps if we can find one, we'll just attach it to the top of our truck with bungies for our trip home. :) It will fit, right???

Miss & love ya, Larry! Give the boys big smooch from us.

Oh, and no sign of Big Foot out here, but perhaps we'll run into Abominable Snowman when we hit the ice fields?! We'll keep you posted.
